On Friday, Oct. 24, senior Konner M. and junior Alesha R. participated in the Class C-1 state cross country meet held in Kearney.

Konner M. placed 27th out of 95 competitors, with a time of 18:33.3 to end his season.

“I managed to beat a lot of [runners] who have beaten me in previous meets,” senior Konner M. said. “I might not have placed in the top 15, but this was a good feeling to have.”

On the girls’ side, Alesha R. placed 55th out of 88 runners, with a time of 23:42.6. She said she did not place as high as she wanted to, but running at State gave her the fire to push herself next year. Alesha R. was the first female DCHS runner to compete at State.

“I don’t know where my max is at. My times kept getting better and better this year. If I train in the offseason to improve my speed and get miles under my belt, we can find out how much capability I have next year,” Alesha R. said. “The state meet was the hardest meet we ran this year, but I want to run [at State] again next year. I can use [this year] to help motivate me.”
