Walk a mile in their shoes

Junior Alesha R. “When I first got these shoes, even before I knew how to go up on the box fully, I would just wear them around the house, and my mom told me that I’d ruin them but it felt amazing just to wear them on my feet. Last year’s recital was the first year that we could go on pointe, and I was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, so I was the lead. Before this summer I would’ve said [my favorite memory] was being Dorothy, but honestly, the time I enjoy most with these shoes is when I’m at home practicing in the garage or in the driveway and just having alone time.” - Alesha

You put them on every morning before you leave the house. They take you everywhere you need to go, even when you don’t know where you are going. Shoes are more than just a brand name; they’re a token of your experiences, a record of every stain and tear you’ve encountered on your journey so far. These David City High School students share the unique memories they have experienced, whether it be performing a dance or walking a mile.
