Catherine Chmelka claimed a small town business as hers on June 8th of 2020, and as of June 15th, after finishing the coffee shop renovation, offers a variety of services that vary from coffee to home decor.

402 Floral is found on 402 E St, David City, NE 68632, hence the name 402 Floral, and is open all week except Sunday. Their hours vary from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday plus Fridays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

“I currently have one full-time employee, Heather Faz. She serves as the store manager and lead designer, taking charge [of] funeral consultations, and truly ensuring the store is running smoothly while I am at school,” Chmelka states. “I have part-time employees including: Kasey Kuhlman, Brenda Siffring, Kirsten Bell, Payton Andel, Maya Couch, and Keyan Helgoth. Their jobs are primarily running the coffee shop, cleaning tasks, caring for live plants, and filling orders when needed.”

With the aid of 1 full-time employee and 6 part-time employees, 402 Floral offers a variety of services, one being their beverages. They offer several lattes and frappes, along with hot and iced coffee.

“I love how we have a coffee place in town. The service is nice and they offer so many flavors,” Clayton Harris, a senior at DCHS, says. “I haven’t tried all of them yet, but I’m on my way. Also, you can mix your own pumps together.”

402 Floral proceeds to keep their coffee shop occupied with an array of flavors from caramel, to brown sugar cinnamon, to cheesecake. They also offer almond milk as a vegan alternative for lattes, frappes, and coffees, and sugar-free flavors.

“In my opinion, 402 Floral is unique because of the stuff they sell,” Breanna Sloenecker, a junior at DCHS, says. “They always have such cute [things] that I don’t see anywhere else.”

402 Floral offers fresh floral arrangements for all occasions like funerals, weddings, and birthdays to the community, along with a variety of plants for any occasion. They also offer sympathy gifts like lanterns and plaques, home decor for all seasons, Louisiana Grills, tux rentals, candles, artwork, food items, baby items, balloon bouquets, and much more.

“[People can] stay current [with the business] by following 402 Floral on Facebook,” Chmelka says.
