The David City High School cross country team competed in the “pink out” meet on Thurs., Sept. 27 at the Aquinas Invite held at the David City Golf Course.

The DCHS runners consist of seniors Justin Escamilla and Carter Ossian; junior Dalton Krause; and sophomores Clayton Harris, Malcolm Maxwell, and Griffyn Roberts. The team is coached by Brian Hermelbracht.

The team has been working hard all season to prepare for each meet. Hermelbracht has a set routine every day for the runners.

“Typically we use Monday as our distance day where they will run anywhere from 5-7 miles; Tuesday is more speed work,” Hermelbracht said. “Wednesdays is our light day as we prepare for our meet on Thursday, and Fridays are used as a recovery day with some short distance work.”

Hermelbracht believes that the team has worked hard throughout the year and that they are going to run their best races of the year in the upcoming meets.

“I hope to place at the next meet and get another personal best,” Escamilla said.

The team will be in action at the Conference meet on Thurs., Oct. 4 and at Districts on Thurs., Oct. 11.
