“So many people say that practice is the key to success, but for me to get this far with my music it took practice, determination, focus, and passion,” senior Bethany Tebbe said as she recently signed to further her musical talents at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Tebbe originally planned to attend UNO, but was later offered $5,000 a year to attend Kearney. This was an offer she couldn’t turn down.
By studying music education, Tebbe hopes to show future generations the significance of music and how it has the ability to bring people together. She has also been suggested to three choir groups as well as two band groups through the college.
Tebbe stated that the choral director at UNK, Dr. Bauer, was highly interested in her talents. He personally made a phone call to her home expressing his interest. Many other UNK professors congratulated the future student after her audition.
“Out of all of the auditions, yours was my favorite,” Dr. Bauer said.
Tebbe is involved in many extra curricular activities at DCHS, such as volleyball, FFA, band, choir, Speech, and One-Act. However, music will always be number one in her heart.
“I feel extremely honored and blessed,” Tebbe said. “I love music and to have somebody offer me money to do something I love is just really the cherry on top.”
