Six members of the David City High School Quiz Bowl team attended the Grace University contest in Omaha on Fri., Feb. 2.

Quiz Bowl Coach Lisa Bales took juniors Will Danielson, Allie Daro, Carter Ossian, and Sidney Soukup, sophomore Skylar Busch, and freshman Payton Andel. A team consisted of four members with two substitutes filling in after every round.

In the morning, each of the schools competed in three rounds during the morning session. David City first went up against Norris High School in an intense match, but they were defeated. The Scout Quiz Bowl team then competed against Columbus High School where they, again, lost.

David City finished off the morning session with a close match against Ralston High School, where they lost by only five points.

“I think our team competed really well against tough competition,” Bales said.

After a lunch break, the afternoon session started off as a single-elimination bracket. David City faced Arlington High School, but lost 20-155, putting the team out of the competition.

“I think we need to gain more confidence before the next competition,” Bales said.

The DCHS Quiz Bowl team will be back in action at Bellevue University on Fri., March 2.
